I am a student that’s been involved in research in Dr. Smith’s polymer chemistry lab since June 2020. Thus far, I have worked to improve the processability of polyetherketonketones, expand the processing window of ortho-diynylarene (ODA) resins, and improve the carbon yields of ODA resins. In addition, I serve as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader, which grants me the opportunity to help students study for courses like Gen. Chemistry I. I hope to use my experiences in research and as an SI Leader to attend graduate school for chemistry after graduation. I love that chemistry allows for the opportunity to understand so much about the world around us. Serving as Outreach Coordinator for our SMACS chapter allows me to share this love for chemistry to so many.
